On Saturday, July 12, the eighth edition of the Rosengarten Schlern Skymarathon will take place. Tiers is hosting almost 500 runners from more than 20 nations.
A voucher for a wellness weekend at the Hotel Cyprianer Hof will be raffled off among all the runners who take part.
However, not only mountain runners but also spectators are welcome at the Rosengarten Schlern Skymarathon. All passengers on the Tierser Cabrio cable car will receive the Rosengarten Pass on July 12 from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. for 26 instead of 38 euros. This allows them to travel up to the Kölner Hütte and then follow the race directly on the Hirzelsteig trail, starting at 7.00 am in St. Zyprian. The race finishes at 5 pm. The festivities of the Tiers music band begin at 10 a.m. on the Krone square; the prize-giving ceremony is scheduled for 3 p.m.
On this day, there will be one-way traffic in the village and the Brunnenplatz bus stop will be relocated to the level of the community center. An event of this size is a mammoth task that the twelve-strong organizing committee works on all year round. However, this event is made possible by the numerous volunteers who work in the village and along the route on race day. Thanks also go to the sponsors and the municipal administration who support the Rosengarten Schlern Skymarathon.
A maximum of 500 starting places will be allocated for the renowned trail event in the heart of South Tyrol, where participating athletes can choose from two different routes. On the one hand, there is the somewhat longer and therefore inevitably more challenging distance of 45 kilometers with around 3000 meters of altitude, one hundred percent asphalt-free. And on the other hand, there is the “shorter” variant with a length of 36 kilometers and approx. 2000 meters of altitude.
