On Saturday, July 11, 2026, the ninth edition of the Rosengarten Schlern Sky Marathon will take place. There are still a fewmonths to go, but the organizing committee of the popular trail event in the South Tyrolean Dolomites is already busy planning and preparing. One thing is already certain: a new 16-kilometer route with an elevation gain of 800 meterswill be added to the two existing distances.
With a route profile of 16 kilometers and 800 meters of elevation gain, the new distance will be the shortest and “easiest” of the three, making it ideal for less experienced and less trained trail athletes. It is also ideal for endurance athletes who want to try their hand at trail running. But the route is still challenging. After all, 800 meters of elevation gain over 16 kilometers is no walk in the park. The data confirms that the route is steep and strenuous after the start at the Hotel Cyprianerhof.
The other two routes should already be familiar to mountain runners. Although the Rosengarten Schlern Sky Marathon has only been held eight times, it has long enjoyed great popularity and reaches its maximum number of 500 runners every year, which will also be the limit for the ninth edition. The long distance of 46 kilometers with over 3000 meters of elevation gain is a real challenge that can only be mastered with sufficient training and, above all, a head for heights – at this distance, there is not a single kilometer on asphalt, but exclusively in alpine terrain. The middle distance of 36 kilometers and more than 2000 meters of elevation gain is also a real challenge.
Registration opens at the beginning of 2026
But what all three routes have in common is the incredible feeling that participants experience when they cross the finish line in the village square in Tiers and feel the appreciation of the spectators and their fellow competitors. And this is how it should be for the upcoming edition on July 11, 2026.
Registration for the Rosengarten Schlern Sky Marathon 2026 is not yet open. Traditionally, registration opens at the beginning of 2026, i.e. on January 1. The entry fee for the 46 km distance (without asphalt sections) is €80, for the 36 km distance €75, and for the new 16 km route (with a maximum of 100 participants) €70. The entry fee includes a generous starter pack with local products and specialties.
