Until the turn of the year, Saturday, July 11, 2026, was the date set for the Rosengarten Schlern Sky Marathon. Now, registration is open for the 9th edition of the South Tyrolean trail classic, which, in this Olympic year, will feature a new 16-kilometer route (800 meters of elevation gain) in addition to the two traditional distances.

With this new route, the organizing committee has responded to the wishes of numerous runners. “They requested a run for beginners so that they could gain their first experience of trail running in our fabulous mountain world. We have responded to this request with a 16-kilometer route and 800 meters of elevation gain. For this year's premiere, the number of starting places is limited to 100. Anyone interested should therefore hurry to register,” explain the organizers.
Otherwise, Tiers am Rosengarten sticks to what has proven itself. No wonder, as the Rosengarten Schlern Sky Marathon is one of the most popular and scenically beautiful trail runs among endurance athletes. The long distance of 46 kilometers with around 3000 meters of elevation gain is a real challenge. "Excellent preparation and a head for heights are prerequisites for participation. A special feature is the fact that not a single meter is run on asphalt and the participants are mostly on alpine terrain," the organizing committee continues. The medium distance is also a real challenge with a length of 36 kilometers and almost 2000 meters of elevation gain.

Unique panorama in the heart of the Dolomites

One thing that all three distances have in common is the unique panorama in the heart of the Dolomites, which participants can enjoy while running. And the sublime feeling of having achieved something great as soon as they cross the finish line in the village square in Tiers. The respect of spectators and competitors is guaranteed for everyone after such a “heroic feat.” This will also be the case at the next edition on July 11, 2026.
Registration for the big South Tyrolean trail spectacle in midsummer 2026 is open on the official website www.skymarathontiers.it, where you can find lots more useful information about the event. The entry fee for the 46 km distance (without asphalt sections) is €80, for the 36 km distance €75, and for the new 16 km route (with a maximum of 100 participants) €70. The entry fee includes a generous starter pack with local products and specialties.

Due to its length and the difference in altitude athletic preparation and a head for heights are prerequisites. The name "Sky Marathon" describes the length and alpine characteristics of the trail run at over 2,000 metres.
